Project overview

Solar Merchants is an Australian solar retailer and installer offering residential, commercial, hybrid and off-grid systems, batteries, maintenance and apartment solar. We designed and built its WordPress website and the content behind it, so homeowners and businesses can compare options, check which government incentives apply to them and request a quote.

The challenge

Why this project mattered

Solar is a considered purchase. Buyers compare installers, panel and battery brands, finance options and a changing set of state and federal rebates before they pick up the phone. An installer’s website has to answer those questions clearly and turn interest into quote requests.

Incentives also differ by state and change often, so the site needed a quick way to launch new rebate and offer pages.

What we did

Our approach

01

Service architecture

Dedicated pages for residential, commercial, hybrid and off-grid systems, solar maintenance, smart homes and SolShare apartment solar, each leading to a quote request.

02

Incentive and finance content

Explainers on government incentives, solar incentives, feed-in tariffs and renewable energy certificates, plus asset and structured finance pages for commercial buyers.

03

Rebate and offer landing pages

9 campaign landing pages for state programs and time-limited offers, including the NSW battery incentive and Victoria’s Solar Homes program, built to capture rebate-eligibility enquiries.

04

Trust signals and lead capture

Licence number, industry accreditation badges, installed-brand logos, a simple three-step process, quote forms and click-to-call throughout the site.

What We Delivered for Solar Merchants

The Solar Merchants website we designed and built is live with:

  • 33 published website pages on WordPress
  • 6 solar service pages covering residential, commercial, hybrid and off-grid systems, maintenance, smart homes and SolShare apartment solar
  • 9 rebate and offer landing pages, including the NSW battery incentive and Victoria’s Solar Homes program
  • Incentive and finance explainers covering government incentives, feed-in tariffs, renewable energy certificates and commercial finance
  • Trust signals and lead capture on every page: licence number, accreditation badges, installed-brand logos, quote forms and click-to-call

Quote request and conversion figures will be added here once they are verified against Solar Merchants’ own analytics and lead reporting.

Lessons From the Solar Merchants Project

1. Answer the money questions first

Solar buyers want to know what a system will cost, what they will save and which rebates they qualify for before they speak to anyone. Pages that answer those questions clearly, with the conditions and limits stated plainly, build trust faster than pages that hide them behind a quote form. Linking to official sources such as the Australian Government energy website adds credibility.

2. Make new rebate pages fast to launch

State and federal incentives change often. A reusable landing-page template means a new program can go live within days, while interest is highest, instead of waiting for a full design cycle.

3. Put trust signals where decisions happen

Licence numbers, accreditations and the brands an installer uses matter most at the moment a visitor decides whether to request a quote. Placing them next to forms and calls to action, not only on an about page, reduces doubt at the point of conversion.

4. Keep the path to a quote short

A simple three-step process, short forms and click-to-call on mobile make it easy to act. Every extra field or click loses some visitors, especially on phones.

5. Write for the buyer’s state

Rebates, feed-in tariffs and grid rules differ between states, so a page that speaks to a homeowner in New South Wales should not read the same as one for Victoria. State-specific pages are more useful to the reader, more likely to match what they search for, and easier for AI assistants to quote accurately when someone asks which incentives apply where they live.

6. Explain finance for business buyers

Commercial customers think in payback periods and cash flow. Asset and structured finance pages give finance teams the information they need to approve a project, which shortens the sales cycle for larger installations.

Who this approach suits

For Solar Merchants, these lessons shaped every template, from the service pages to the newest rebate page. This structure suits installers and trades businesses that sell considered purchases, depend on government incentives or seasonal offers, and win most jobs through quote requests and phone calls.

It also works for related businesses such as battery, heat pump, EV charger and home energy upgrade installers, where incentives and finance options drive many buying decisions and buyers do a lot of research before they call.

Services Used in the Solar Merchants Project

For Solar Merchants the website, content and landing pages were planned together, so every new rebate page fits the existing navigation and internal links instead of becoming an orphan. Running a trades or installation business? Talk to us about a website that turns visitors into quote requests.

Related Case Studies

Like Solar Merchants, both projects turn a complex offer into clear pages that lead to an enquiry. Each started with the same question: what does the buyer need to know before they feel ready to get in touch? See all projects in our portfolio.
